…in China, letting Vettel take his third victory of the season, the defending world champion would have been two races away from equaling the most consecutive grand prix wins held by Michael Schumacher and Alberto Ascari.
Michael won his seven in 2004 with Ferrari, between May and August. Alberto was also racing for the Maranello team in the 1950s when he clinched his seventh straight win.
Last year’s final two races, Brazil and Abu Dhabi, were won by Vettel. Add that to his two 2011 victories and that is four in a row. Bild newspaper told Vettel about the Schumacher and Ascari records upon which he replied, “Really? Only seven?”
Seven straight wins doesn’t sound that easy to attain afterwards, does it?
